On Home Ground - Denis Thorpe FRPS FBIPP
Denis Thorpe is one of the great photographers of our age, perhaps best remembered for his work with the Guardian newspaper
and his iconic pictures of L.S. Lowry's house just after the artist had died.
Denis will be talking about his time as a press photographer, illustrated by some of his pictures
This promises to be an extremely interesting evening.
It will be open to the general public, so we would advise booking in advance.
Saturday 5th December 10.00am – Great Northern Competition

A National AV competition open to anybody resident in the British Isles and to overseas members of British AV Groups.
There is a special prize for the best beginner’s sequence, so everyone is in with a chance.
This is an excellent opportunity to see both National/International standard AV
and what can be achieved by relative newcomers, all in one competition.
This Year's Jury are :-

Sunday 6th December 10.00am – RPS NW AV Day
AV brings together images and sounds to create something which is greater than the sum of the parts.
This is because an AV sequence contains other essential components which are added by the author
The RPS AV Day will be about helping authors discover what these componets are
and how to add them to their own sequences thereby helping to improve them
Starting with attenders’ Sequences, followed by the Guest Speakers, the Judges from Saturday's Competition

Le Club d'Activités Photo de Meyrin (CAPM) 9th Biennial Slideshow

Held at The Meyrin Forum, Geneva, Switzerland
Under the auspices of the City of Meyrin and the patronage of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP),
this event is part of a great image festival including photographic exhibitions and various activities.
The 9th Biennial Competition is open to digital slideshows only.
The slideshows will be in competition as per the FIAP specifications and
the authors of the best presentations will receive a prize.
