 About 4 weeks ago whilst looking for a European Christmas market I came across  Sky Europe offering a cheap flight from Birmingham to Bratislava.
I had never heard of them before that, but having looked up their website, which informed me that they were the youngest airline in Europe with the most modern fleet I booked a flight for 6 passengers to fly to Bratislava on Saturday 8th December 2007 and to return on Tuesday the 11th.
I booked online, paid them by Credit Card and they confirmed my reservation to me by email.
Once my booking was confirmed I went on to find and book a hotel in Bratislava and a mini bus transfer from the  airport to the city centre.
I don't really why I had another look at their website about 4 weeks later, but when I did, I noticed that according to their website they no longer flew to Bratislava on the 8th December. The new schedule showed their flights as the 7th or the 9th December with a return flight on the 10th or 12th December.
I sent them a fax asking them to confirm to me that I had a valid reservation and when I had no reply for two days I sent a copy of my fax by e-mail requesting an urgent  reply.


On the 26th October 2007 I received an e-mail, not addressed to me personally but just a general e-mail entitled Schedule Change to your Flight which read as follows:

Dear passenger,
 
On behalf of SkyEurope Airlines, we would like to thank you for your reservation. Despite our efforts to minimize any changes in our planned flight plan, we regret to inform you that your flight under the booking number XY81SD has been cancelled as part of the adaptation and harmonization of our route network and time table for the winter season.
 
We truly apologize for any inconvenience caused by this cancellation. As compensation, we would like to offer you a free rebooking for any convenient travel date.
 
May we invite you to contact the Reservation Centre of SkyEurope Airlines under the telephone number +4212 4850 4850 or our local numbers to help you with the rebooking.
 
SkyEurope Airlines would like to ask for your understanding and hopes to see you soon on board of our flights


The sender of the e-mail was noreply@skyeurope.com which meant I could not reply to this particular e-mail






On Sunday the 28th October I tried to phone the UK number, which is costing me 25p per minute but after listening to a very americanised voice telling me what to do to join their mailing list I was cut off and the line went dead. I then tried to phone the number in Slovakia but only got a message that the line is temporarily unavailable


I waited until Monday 29th October 2007 and I tried again. After going through the automated procedure I was connected to a young lady who changed my booking to the Friday and Monday as requested and confirmed it to me by e-mail.
This enabled me to change my hotel bookings, which I had with
booking.com and I have to say that they were very efficient and changed our 3 rooms without any problems. They even reduced the prices as the room for Friday nights was priced cheaper than the room we originally had booked for Monday.

On the 27th October 2007 I received yet another e-mail entitled YY81SD - cancelled flights
