Hi there. Did you know that the Great Prince of Puritans, Mr John Owen... Denied and Contradicted this verse?!!! You didn't? Well now you do. Here's what he said about the "heart" of a Christian. He said that Jer 17:9 is a description of a Christian's heart. Then he says, quote; "
This is the subject, the seat, the dwelling-place of this law of sin--- THE HEART:  as it is the entire principle of moral operations, of doing good or evil, as out of it proceed good or evil.  Here dwells our enemy; this is the fort, the citadel of this tyrant, where it maintains a REBELLION AGAINST GOD ALL OUR DAYS!!!". Sometimes it has more strength and consequently more success; sometimes less of the one and of the other; but it is ALWAYS IN REBELLION WHILST WE LIVE." [My Emphases.]
Thus saith John Owen. See it all here.  Aren't all you Puritan worshipers impressed?

 Strong's number in the above verses for the word "whole" or "all" is  3605  "kol" and is found in the OT over 5300 TIMES!  It's found twice in this verse and it means "entire"... like the whole thing; nothing left out. It means 100% of one's 'heart'.

Brown Driver & Briggs lexicon;
- Original: כּול כּלo
- Transliteration: Kol

1.  all, the whole
a.  all, the whole of
b.  any, each, every, anything
c.  totality, everything  ***

Notice "c";

Now... there's a passel of people out there who profess that they are Christians while they believe Jer 17:9 is true of them. That's because they worship men like John Owen and do not study their Bible. How can such people possibly identify with a verse such as this? Do they claim to Praise/Seek God with their deceitful and desperately wicked hearts? Or with hearts that are the seat of indwelling sin and remain in Rebellion Against God!!?? Such notions are patently absurd not to mention anti-christian!  The Psalmist declares that he will praise his God with his ~whole~ heart. In Psalm 119 [see above refs] he claims he will seek God and -keep His law-  with his -whole- heart. How can these people possibly make the same claims without saying that they are praising & seeking their 'god' & keeping his law with a -Wicked- heart that is in ~Rebellion Against God~! ¿ That would certainly contradict the teaching of Messiah who taught that a Christian has an Honest and Good heart; Luk 8:15 If the Lord Jesus said His people have honest and good hearts and these people say they have deceitful and desperately wicked hearts... what else are they saying other than that they are not Christians!?
