Well yes Lord... you have commanded us to keep your precepts/commandments,  but you see Lord... I can't. After all, my heart is the seat and citadel of sin, the dwelling-place of the law of sin and will maintain a rebellion against You all my days. It will always be in rebellion against You as long as I live. So how can You expect me to obey this verse Lord? Furthermore I have to struggle with my indwelling sin and remaining corruption so because of all that, every time I make the slightest attempt to do -anything- "good", which certainly would include keeping your commandments, it comes out Evil... every time. 

Are we in Goshen yet?

Friends... anybody who holds to the above notion is for dead sure an unregenerate person. Jesus said....
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
He that has my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. vs 21.

Do you claim to love Jesus? If so... are you keeping His commandments??  If not your claim is bogus. I don't care how many Bibles you read & how many churches you belong to & how many seminaries you went to or anything else. If you are not keeping His commandments you don't love Him. More...

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He who says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1John 2:2,4  

The entire book of 1 John was written to people who ~Keep~ His commandments.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 3:22
And he that keeps his commandments dwells in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 3:24
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 5:2,3

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. 2John 6
