                                                                   Commentary

This verse is telling us the time that Mary came to the tomb...  ~Not~  the time of the Resurrection. There is no direct statement as to the time of Messiah's resurrection anywhere in the entire Bible. Read that again. Nowhere do the Scriptures tell us the precise time of Messiah's Resurrection.

Now... Mary came to the tomb while it was still dark whereupon she discovered an M T tomb. That means that Messiah was already alive... while it was still dark! That means He did  ~Not~   rise at sunrise on Sunday! Happy Easter!

John Gill says, quote; " by that time she got to the sepulchre, the sun was rising:".  I wonder where he got that from?

Henry says, quote; "This was the first Christian sabbath,".  I wonder where he got that from?
