See vs 21. Again it is clear who God loves. Those who keep the word of His  Son the Lord Jesus Christ.   People who do not keep His word are showing that they do not love Him, no matter how loud they chant... "Oh-h-h-h how I love Jesus!!".

In this vs 'word' is singular. It's plural in the next vs. This means that the concept of what Jesus spoke, or the entire scope of His teachings is in view here.

Gill must have been smoking pot for he says; "by his "words" are meant not his doctrines, but his ordinances;"...  Yet Jesus said;

John 7:17  If anyone desires to do His will, he will know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or I speak from Myself.

See also
Mat 7:28 And it happened, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at His doctrine.

The entire Sermon On The Mount was nothing but Doctrine folks. Would Gill have us believe that we can keep His "words" by which he means "ordinances" while we ignore the
Sermon On The Mount and everything else Messiah spoke? Take your concordance and look up the words "word" & "words" just in John alone and you will see for yourself the lunacy of Gill's statement. Then look up the word "doctrine".
