1Ki 11:4  For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as was the heart of David his father. ASV

1Ki 15:3  And he  [[Abijam]]  walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God, as the heart of David his father. ASV

It  ~Says~... that David's heart was ~~Perfect~~.  See Noah. It does not say 'Christ In him' was perfect. It says his ~heart~ was perfect. Christ -In- a person and the person's 'heart' are two different things. To be sure the Scriptures do teach that Christ is indeed -In- a saved person; that's the doctrine of Federalism and speaks to the Christian's Positional, Legal standing before God. Scripture also teaches Practical, Personal, Subjective righteousness/holiness without which no man shall see the Lord. This verse along with many other passages speaks to the latter. David was a Perfect man as is all God's people, because God has removed their wicked hearts and given them new hearts that are righteous and the result is they walk in newness of life and keep His commandments.
