New Japanese horror is on the way, and it brings with it those ever-so-popular vampires. Seems the vampire craze has even taken Japan by storm, thus, a new horror pic we learned about by way of Nippon Cinema, entitled
Higanjima. The pic, which stars Koji Yamamoto, Takahiro Tsutsumi, and Masatoshi Yamamoto...follows a teenager named Akira who travels to a creepy Higan Island to find his missing older brother with the help of several friends. Unfortunately, the island is inhabited by vampires and no one has ever escaped alive. He eventually discovers that his brother has not only survived on the island alone, but has honed prolific vampire hunting skills in the hopes of avenging the brutal murder of his fiancee. The film is expected to be released in Japan by Warner Brothers this fall with a U.S. release possibly coming in some way, shape, or form in 2010.
