[Feast 3:The Happy Finish]
Plot:Picking up moments after the end of Feast II: Sloppy Seconds, the survivors are saved by the mysterious prophet, Short Bus Gus, who seemingly has the ability to control the beasts. He leads them into the sewers as they travel to the big city. Along the way they get help from karate expert Jean-Claude Seagal and learn that the beasts originate from a place called "The Hive." Armed with this knowledge, they decide to fight back and destroy the beasts once and for all.

My Thoughts:Yeah, it picks up where "Sloppy Seconds" left off, except it leaves behind the charm of Sloppy Seconds.
Review:I had a sneaking suspicion that making a third feast film was kind of pushing it. But I liked part two, so I was willing to give three a fair shot. It wasn't a terrible, awful, just plain bad movie....but the first sequel was better. The film picks up exactly where two left off, and opens with a handful of characters getting taken out before what's left of the rooftop dwellers from the end of part two decide for some reason to go back down to the street, and evade the monsters from there.
The movie plays out in similar fashion to "Sloppy Seconds', and really solidifies this series as a creature-feature-survival-horror trilogy. The movie doesn't get complicated or try to bore you. In fact, it lets you know ahead of time that it's following the patterns of the first sequel, only it's not gonna be as sharp, witty, or enjoyable. Yes the group will try to escape the creatures, yes most of them will die in some sort of order, and yes when the end finally comes....a few will be left standing.
But the only thing the film doesn't telegraph is who will die and in what order. So atleast there's some fun to be had there for the viewer. With most of the cast from part two dropping like flies, of course writers Dunstan and Melton have to introduce some new blood into the third picture. Which comes in the form of a kung-fu expert who looks like a character from the old "Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad" show, an oddball prophet who believes he controls the creatures on some level, and a Rambo type.
None of these characters are interesting of course, but simply added in because they add some humor to the movie on some level. But at the same time, they also come off as very unbelievable. In a situation which the film presents, a town under seige by monsters...it's hard to believe that these three magically managed to survive, and show up to help. Usually in films like these, they try and make the surviving characters more realistic.
So we can believe on some level that he or she is smart and or tough enoguh to have held the creatures at bay during the invasion. But these new characters are so over-exaggerated and outrageous that I was more inclined to believe they should've died before some of the folks in the bar way back in the first film. Then again one could also ask why they didn't have the good sense to get out of town like Tuffy (Krista Allen) and Balthazar Getty's character did in part one.
Honestly, the new additions to the survivors crew were so awful, I was hoping the treacherous Honey Pie (Jenny Wade), would be reanimated somehow...just to keep things entertaining. Something this movie is for about 15 or 20 minutes. Before the newbies show up and ruin everything. If there's one bright spot to this decent, yet not as good as part two third installment...it's the acting of one Diane Goldner. Once again she raises the bar as Biker Chick, and out-performs everyone.
And even while some of the leftovers from part two, such as the hyper-optimistic blonde and her new beau, become really annoying really quickly...her character is one of the few leftovers who doesn't eventually end up pissing you off when the film is all said and done. If you're looking for blood and gore, this film has it in spades. That's one thing it doesn't forget to deliver. But the fun and semi-light-heartedness of the first sequel is what it fails miserably to deliver.
The ending is also not that great, and just ratchets up the outrageouness to new levels. I'm sure the writers might've found it funny, but I quite frankly didn't. The movies final scene is pretty well done though, and some of the characters fates can be chalked up to strong hitns of irony. But while that may be the case, "Feast 3" only halfly delivers. It tries to be a spectacular end to the series, but instead...only manages to be a decent end to the series...for now anyways.
Positives:Diane Goldner's performance, high amounts of blood and gore, and the ending is fitting on a few levels.
Negatives:The new characters are very annoying, and the fun and entertainment vlaue of part two is lost on part three.
Overall:Two out of four stars.
