Tecy was originally setup and run by Ed Johnson as a solo project in 2007. For over 6 months it was updated, developed and designed by Ed alone but then in March of 2008 he invited members to join the website as freelance reporters, designers and advertisers. By January of 2009 the company consisted of 3 full time students and a wide range of writers, reporters and journalists too.

The company closed down in March 2009 for 5 months. When in August that same year Ed decided to go ahead with a re-launch and re-design of Tecy. Now fully running since September 2009 the website attracts visitors from all around the globe.
